Gems - Precious stones

Already since primeval times persons of both gender dresses up with nice stones. Besides, the value is determined not only by the appearance, but above all also by the frequency of the occurence and special qualities.

There it is clear that the diamond of most valuable and noblest all precious stones is. As the hardest known material generally he already has a special position, the relatively rare occurence in the best qualities acts another in addition. Incredibly he works by a physical property, his special kind of the light breaking which causes the unique glitter after the suitable grinding.

Nevertheless, there is still a whole row of precious stones and semiprecious stones which do not take second place to the diamond in beauty and effect. Just with the jewellery and with precious stones everybody has his special predilections and thus everybody has his favorite stone.

Precious stones are beside the diamond among other things a ruby, sapphire and emerald.

Semiprecious stones are looked as less noble because they are less rare and in her qualities less extremely. The prices also arise from it. They are not mostly so hard and less valuable than precious stones. One calls semiprecious stones, among the rest, Alexandrit, amethyst, beryl, shell, Lapislazuli, malachite, quartz, Topas, turquoise, zircon, haematite, Pyrit, tiger's eye and rose quartz in gem stone quality.
